Terms & Definitions
- Dry Weight (UVW)
- The weight of the RV as shipped from the factory — without fluids, cargo, or passengers.
- GVW — Gross Vehicle Weight
- The actual weight of the fully loaded RV at any given moment, including fluids and gear.
- GVWR — Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
- The maximum allowable loaded weight of the RV, as rated by the manufacturer.
- Cargo Weight (CCC)
- The weight available for your personal belongings, fluids, and gear (GVWR minus dry weight).
- Tongue / Hitch Weight
- The downward force a travel trailer’s tongue exerts on the tow vehicle’s hitch.
- Pin Weight
- For fifth wheels — the weight the kingpin places on the tow vehicle’s bed.
- Payload Capacity
- The maximum weight your tow vehicle can carry — passengers, cargo, and hitch/pin weight combined.
- Max Towing Capacity
- The maximum weight your vehicle can safely tow, as rated by the manufacturer.
